-------------------------------------------------- "The Walking Dead, v.15" Written by Robert Kirkham Illustrated by Charlie Adlard (Image Comics, 2011) -------------------------------------------------- Kirkham has been moving slowly and deliberately with the Waling Dead series for a couple of years now, and this new collection, like the last few, focusses more on the tensions and psychology of the human survivors than on their rotting, zombie enemies. The hacking and slashing hardly take up any time, although Kirkham explores several gripping emotional scenarios, including Rick's self-doubt as a leader, doubt that is shared by (some of) the other survivors. I'm sure the zombies will make a comeback -- perhaps when Spring returns? -- but for now the intensive, realistic character development is great. Not what you'd expect from a zombie comic, but that's why this book is so good. Highly recommended. (DJ Joe Sixpack, ReadThatAgain book reviews)
